Due to the fact that the accreditation practices are on the way soon for all Higher Education Institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of external/internal accountability requirements by both Bologna criteria and new Higher Education Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina, International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized a public lecture/conference for those interested in accreditation processes.
The conference titled "Recent challenges in education" was held on the IUS premises on August 29th 2009 starting at 10 o'clock. Guest speaker at the conference was Prof. dr. Bahattin Karagözoğlu from the King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia.
Large number of academicians, educationalists and other interested in the conference contents participated in this event which included some of the following topics: "Definitions of education and training", "Necessity of education and attributes of being educated", "Education and its stages", "Outcome based versus content based education", etc.
"I want to contribute to the continious improvement of my institution, and I see accreditation process as an opportunity for this improvement" said Mr. Karagözoğlu at the introduction of the conference. This conference marks the beginning of a week-long serie of workshops for IUS Academics and Administrative staff.
