IUS Library Manager, faculty and students from FASS have organized an event on 25th April 2016 in the IUS Library called: Multicultural Tea and Recitation of Poetry. This event acknowledged the International World Book and Copyright Day, which is celebrated all around the World on April 23rd. It is a symbolic date for world literature. More than 50 students, professors and poetry writers participated in this event and showed their talent and passion for poetry by reading poems in four languages: Bosnian, English, Turkish and Persian.
IUS guest, a prominent Bosnian professor and writer, Milica Lazic-Boskovic read her own poems dedicated to all children and mothers but especially to her son who tragically lost his life in an accident. Moreover, professors Goran Simic, Faculty of Law and Mirzana Pasic-Kodric, FASS read their own poems.
On this date in 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all passed away. In addition, it is also when other prominent authors were either born or passed away, such as Maurice Druon, Haldor K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo.
It was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those, who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity.
IUS publications were displayed in the Library and a few professors donated their books to IUS Library, which was greatly appreciated.
