Balkan Studies Foundation Pay Visit to the International University of Sarajevo

In a significant stride towards fostering academic collaboration and advancing research initiatives, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) played host to a distinguished delegation on Friday, January 12, 2024. The visitors included Dr. Sevba Abdula, President of the Balkan Studies Foundation, and project coordinators Dr. Ahmet Köroğlu and Dr. Serdar Serdaroğlu from Istanbul University and the International Balkan University, respectively.

Upon their arrival, the delegation received a warm welcome from IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, IUS Secretary General Mr. Ibrahim Inal, and IUS Balkan Studies Centre Director Dr. Hamza Preljević. The participants gathered to discuss potential avenues for cooperation in research and projects funded through EU funds, with a particular focus on initiatives within the Balkan region.

At the heart of this meeting was the Balkan Periodicals Project, a collaborative venture aimed at advancing scholarly discourse and research within the Balkan region. Dr. Sevba Abdula, as the driving force behind the project, emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge-sharing to address the complex challenges faced by the region.

Dr. Ahmet Köroğlu and Dr. Serdar Serdaroğlu, both experienced academics from Istanbul University and the International Balkan University, respectively, shared insights into the ongoing efforts to enhance educational and research linkages between their institutions and the International University of Sarajevo. They highlighted the potential impact of joint projects on fostering a deeper understanding of the socio-cultural dynamics within the Balkans.

One of the key highlights of the discussion was the exploration of opportunities for collaborative research and projects funded through EU initiatives. The participants acknowledged the pivotal role that external funding plays in supporting innovative research endeavors and expressed their commitment to leveraging these resources for the benefit of the Balkan academic community.
