President of the Board of Trustees of Ahmet Yesevi University, Prof. Dr. Muhittin Şimşek paid a visit to the International University of Sarajevo on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 where he met with the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Administration Prof. Dr. Emel Topcu and Assistant Professor Muhammed Yasir Göz, Vice-Dean for Academic and Students Affairs of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
During a very comprehensive meeting, Mr. Şimşek explained that Ahmet Yesevi University is an international and autonomous mutual state university of the Republics of Turkiye and Kazakhstan. He added that the vision of the university is to be the symbol of friendship and solidarity between Turkish States and Communities that perform education and research activities on international standards with scientific and technologic research infrastructure. In view of this, he expressed interest in establishing closer ties with the International University of Sarajevo.
One of the main ideas discussed regarding future cooperation between the two higher education institutions was the possibility of establishing double-diploma programs considering that the two universities have a number of similar faculties and study programs notably in the area of engineering, economics and social sciences. It was also agreed that one of the first steps of mutual collaboration between the two institutions will be pursuing student and academic staff exchange as well as organizing and participating in joint academic events.
