Italian SuperComputing Resource Allocation - ISCRA

MEDS - Meeting of Design Student

Assist. Prof. Muhamed Hadziabdic, in collaboration with Prof. Alfredo Soldati, head of Department of Energy Technology, University of Udine, Italy, and his team successfully applied for Italian SuperComputing Resource Allocation - ISCRA project. CINECA, the Italian most powerful High Performance Computer (HPC) center, twice a year awards scientists and engineers who are doing HPC-related research. All the proposals, once submitted, are rigorously evaluated within CINECA Peer Review system by assigned Scientific Committee. The grant includes access to IBM6 supercomputer and 200 000 allocated cpu hours. The computer power will be used to investigate physics of non-premixed swirl burner, type of burner widely used by different industries, and related phenomenon of flow hysteresis by means of numerical simulation (Large Eddy Simulation). Assist. Prof. Muhamed Hadziabdic is the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project, together with Prof. Soldati. The project will last for 12 months.
