IUS Hosts Final Dissemination Event on Innovation, Robotics, and Cognitive Development in High School Education

MONKS project

The final dissemination event of the project “The Impact of Innovation and Robotics on High School Students’ Cognitive Thinking,” supported by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton, was held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the International University of Sarajevo.

The presentation was led by the Project Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, together with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tarik Namas and PhD student Anes Hadžiomerović, who presented the project methodology, key findings, and implications for secondary education.

The project team was composed of professors, as well as undergraduate and graduate students, representing an interdisciplinary collaboration between education, robotics, psychology and data analysis. The team included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orkun Aydın and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Ünal-Aydın, as well as MA students from the Psychology study program, Iman Ehnech-Seran and Berina Baraković, who actively contributed to the research process.

The study showed that innovative teaching approaches, such as robotics-based learning, led to statistically significant improvements across five measured cognitive domains: coordination, reasoning, attention, memory, and perception. These findings provide a scientifically grounded basis for evidence-based educational reform.

The event gathered partners from International Maarif Schools and Second Gymnasium Mostar, as well as guests from Obala Gymnasium Sarajevo, First Bosniak Gymnasium Sarajevo, and First Gymnasium Sarajevo, and concluded with a discussion emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in innovation-driven educational research.

The International University of Sarajevo expresses its gratitude to the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Sarajevo Canton for supporting this project.
