1st edition of IUS Model of United Nations (IUSMUN) held at IUS

In the period from 3rd to 4th March 2016, Association of Political Science Students (APSS) organized the simulation of the UN Security Council work. Model of United Nations (MUN) is an academic conference whose aim is to educate students about current events, diplomacy, topics in the international relations and the United Nations agenda. During the IUSMUN students role-play diplomats representing a nation in a simulated session of the UN Security Council.

Prior the conferences students need to research a country, put themselves in the role of diplomat, consult, debate, investigate international issues and then develop solutions for the world problems.

IUSMUN conference gathered 15 students who took positions of delegates who debated on the topic “Achieving stability in the Middle East” and one student who was acting Chair of the Council. As the result of employing a variety of skills such as public speaking, research, policy analysis, active listening, group communication, conflict resolution and negotiating at the end of the second day of the IUSMUN conference delegates adopted the Draft resolution which represents their view of the possible actions that will help achieve stability and peace in the Middle East.

At the very end of this fruitful debate, the chair Enna Zone Đonlić together with delegates choose two outstanding delegates, Aynura Akbas as the Best Speaker and Amra Džonlić as the Best Delegate.

Due to the positive feedback from our distinguished delegates and guests at the conference, APSS team is already planning the 2nd edition of IUSMUN.
