Workshop PAHTO-GEN 2017 Successfully Completed

Workshop PAHTO-GEN 2017 whose primary aim was to share modern research principles and techniques with the students of  local universities in BiH was successfully completed. It was jointly organized by Sharklan Adria, Research and Development Centar of International University of Sarajevo (IUS), and University of Sarajevo (UNSA) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, from April 27 - 29, 2017. Among many applicants, 30 students were chosen to attend the workshop, among them 18 students of UNSA and 12 students of IUS.

The workshop was held at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on April 27, and the remaining two days in IUS Research and Development Center. It was financed by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science, and supported by several other institutions, including IUS.

The workshop PAHTO-GEN 2017 included the study of pathology and molecular genetics of the cartilaginous fish. This workshop resulted from several years of research conducted in the Bosnian-Herzegovinian coastal waters, in the fields of ecology, functional morphology and anatomy, molecular genetics, pathology and parasitology.

The workshop included introductory lectures and labs, where all students were actively involved in performing laboratory activities. The coordinator of the workshop was Mr. Andrej Gajić and the coordinator on part of  IUS was Jasmin Šutković. Other IUS members who contributed to the project were senior assistant Muhamed Adilović, PhD student Petar Glamočlija and graduate student Maryam Golzardi.
