On Monday, 1st of June 2015, Delegation of USA Embassy visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and presented prestige scholarships and Fulbright academic exchange program, offered by USA State Department. USA Embassy coordinator for academic exchange, Ahsan Khasimuddin and counselor for education in USA, Aleksandra Popović, held the presentation for University’s deans, professors and program coordinators. Rector of International University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu welcomed delegation of USA Embassy in his office and discussed with them possibilities of IUS professors joining to Fulbright academic exchange. Soon after the meeting with rector, presentation was held about the Fulbright exchange program presentation and it was highlighted that programs are for professors, researchers or graduates.
Exchange program is about living in USA for one academic year, where it is not possible to gain any additional degree, especially for academic research and specialization that after return to B&H can be used for future professional development and work. Fulbright Scholar Program for professors offers one year research for recent graduate students which are working on their master or PhD thesis., Hubert H. Humphrey scholarships have duration of one academic year. Also, Teacher Program is available and it offers online professional improvement for English language professors, said Ahsan Khasimuddin, adding that approximately four students per academic year will get opportunity to be Fulbright scholar.
United States Institutes for Scholars (SUSI) scholarships are intended for professors, who would have had the opportunity through short summer institute, pass an intensive post graduate program with included study trips to explore United States. Leadership Scholarship program that offers six months program that consists of three different segments of training/studying was also presented during the presentation. The visit and presentation was organized with support of International Relations Office (IRO).
