Panel "July 15, 2016 – All aspects of the failed coup attempt" organized at Gazi Husrev-bey’s library in Sarajevo and at IUS

On Monday, October 10, 2016, the  panel "15th July 2016 - All aspects of the coup attempt" was held at the Gazi Husrev-bey’s library in Sarajevo

Speakers at the panel were the guests from Turkey: Dr. Hüseyin Kansu, Dr. Mehdi Eker and surviving fighter on the night of the failed military coup Orçun Şekerlioğlu, and Prof. Dr. Džemaludin Latić. Aside from the speakers, IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe, Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Gürsel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut, Assist. Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić Telalović, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Faruk Berat Akçeşme, Assist. Prof. Dr. İsmail Köküsari, Assist. Prof. Dr. Mirza Suljagic, Assist. Prof. Dr. Goran Šimić, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Dursun  attended the panel.

Mr. Ensar Eminović, the moderator, presented a short video of the attempted coup that took place on July 15, 2016.

Prof. Dr. Latić presented a brief description of the relations between Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina in which he told how the brothers Bosniaks were brothers with the Turks during the past, and how Bosniaks  gave the support  and prayers during the fight against the coup.

Dr. Huseyin Kansu gave a speech on Fethullah Gulen in which he emphasized that Gulen was a terrorist and was an enemy of Turkish people, but Turkish people were strong and Gulen and his movement could do what they want to do. Dr. Huseyin Kansu urged all citizens to fight for democracy in order  to oppose terror and coup.

Mr. Orçun Şekerlioğlu was a fighter during the coup. During the coup, he got wounded. Although he was injured, he did not think about giving up and stop fighting for his people and country. After three months he recovered from his injury and made it clear that Fethullah Gulen and his organization failed in their attempt.

Orçun Şekerlioğlu’s message was: "For us, the death is like the trip to a rose garden".
