At the invitation of the Association of Business Women in BiH, IUS representatives Prof. Kanita Karadjuzovic-Hadziabdic, Hilal Karic and Mirsada Mehremic participated in the conference Women's Entrepreneurship Days 2018, event that's being held for the third time in Sarajevo from 23rd to 24th of April.
The Conference was opened by HE Lars-Gunnar Wigemark the Head of the EU Delegation and Special Representative of EU to B&H. Special guest speakers were Patrick Duffy USAID Mission Director to B&H and Lidija Bradara, Chairperson of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of B&H.
Prof. Karadjuzovic-Hadziabdic was of the participants in the panel entitled "Woman, her role and opportunities in IT", and she spoke not only about this topic but also about the necessity of introducing IT to early education. Computer classes in elementary schools need to be interesting, fun and sophisticated for children of all ages.
She also emphasized that IT is the fastest growing industry and many companies and higher education institutions even in our country are hiring young professionals and offering well-paid jobs.
Finishing her interactive panel, Prof. Karadjuzovic-Hadziabdic invited girls to study computer science, encouraging them that IT is not just for men anymore.
Other panels and discussions were devoted to the opportunities for women in the development of agriculture and tourism and the support of local communities to women's entrepreneurship.
One of the conclusions of this gathering is that in terms of economic empowerment of women in any society it is also necessary to focus on networking at the international level. The conference was attended by business women of all profiles, artists, associations, and entrepreneurs from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Austria and Turkey.
