IUS Internationalization: Successful Cooperation with University of Limerick

Ireland

Since its establishment, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) has strived to achieve high standards and quality in all aspects of its work focusing on internationalization. In the 18 years since its establishment, IUS can now boast with a very fruitful cooperation with institutions from all over the world. One of the successful examples is cooperation with the University of Limerick (UL) in the Republic of Ireland. The cooperation that was initiated in 2017 refers to student and staff exchange between these two universities within the Erasmus+ Exchange Program.

More than 20 IUS staff members and students so far have had the opportunity to visit and study at the beautiful green UL Campus. This year, a number of IUS staff members had an opportunity to participate in the UL Global Partners Week, an event which has become a traditional success story of this prestigious Irish university. Each year, this event gathers administrative and academic staff from different world universities. This year’s event was organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the University, and the topic was dedicated to the inclusiveness and sustainability. In addition, UL is an excellent example of an Irish university with a long history of sustainability. Strategic plans of the University aim at the development and implementation of the comprehensive approach to sustainable development, which, in most cases, is implemented in cooperation with the local, regional and international community.

It is safe to say that this example of successful cooperation of IUS with the University of Limerick is an ideal example of the success of the Erasmus+ Exchange Program mission – provide opportunities to young people and staff in the educational sector, to gain and share their knowledge and experience at an international level.
