The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) is actively involved in the implementation of the NATURED project under the Interreg IPA Adrion program. As the project coordinator at IUS, Prof. Ismar Alagić participated in all three international seminars held throughout 2024.
As one of the project's initial activities, IUS co-organized three transnational seminars on climate change in collaboration with COrilla and IUAV. The first seminar took place on October 16, 2024, featuring a lecture by IUS external expert Mr. Domagoj Vidaković, MBA, MA, from Energo-data d.o.o., Croatia. Mr. Vidaković addressed the impacts of climate change on urban areas, focusing on phenomena such as urban heat islands. He highlighted recent extreme weather events, including floods in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as vivid examples of climate change.
During his lecture, Mr. Vidaković emphasized the urgent need for joint efforts to mitigate the immediate consequences of climate change and stressed the importance of long-term measures to prevent further impacts. He underscored that such actions are essential to preserving our current quality of life.
IUS remains committed to addressing climate change through upcoming local seminars that will further explore its effects and potential solutions.
