IUS and SERDA Continue Fruitful Collaboration

A delegation from the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), comprising of the IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, IUS Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Muhammed Yasir Göz as well as Asst. Prof. Dr. Jasmin Šutković from the IUS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) and Dr. Nađa Beglerović, Manager of the Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP), visited the Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency (SERDA), where they were welcomed by Dr. Ševkija Okerić, Director, Ms. Sanela Dževlan, Senior Manager, and Mr. Harun Rizvanbegović, Senior Manager.

In April 2023, IUS and SERDA signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to contribute to the economic development of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to undertake and adopt global standards in all segments of operations through cooperation between the development agencies and higher education institutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding proposed the following areas of cooperation: cooperation in establishing an IT Technopark in Canton Sarajevo using experiences from Turkiye; collaboration on the “Study in Sarajevo” project; drafting of joint projects and applications for EU and internationally funded projects available to BiH; exchange of information and experiences to boost economic development of Sarajevo macro-region and provide support in the process of BIH’s integration to the EU; joint support in linking small- and medium-sized enterprises from BiH and Turkiye; fostering and networking local communities and state institutions in the process of developing sectoral strategies and implementing concrete projects; cooperation in regional economic development processes notably in the area of education. The meeting was a fruitful continuation of our cooperation.
