On Thursday, September 10, 2026, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening academic, scientific, artistic and cultural cooperation between the two institutions.
The agreement was signed by IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı and Prof. Dr. Ahmet Sacit Açıkgözoğlu, Rector of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mehmet Akif Yaman, Member of the IUS Board of Trustees and Director of the Yunus Emre Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The MoU establishes a framework for mutually beneficial cooperation, with particular emphasis on artistic collaboration, joint exhibitions, artistic production, research, design, conservation, publications and knowledge exchange.
The agreement also provides opportunities for the exchange of academic and administrative staff and researchers, creating a foundation for closer institutional links and future joint initiatives.
Specific projects and activities will be developed through separate written addenda, allowing both universities to define the objectives, responsibilities, timelines and resources required for each initiative before implementation.
Through this partnership, IUS and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University aim to create new opportunities for academic and artistic exchange while encouraging closer collaboration among scholars, artists, designers and researchers.
For IUS, the agreement represents another important step in expanding its international partnerships and strengthening cooperation in the fields of arts, design, culture and interdisciplinary research.
