International University of Sarajevo Participates as Academic Partner in International Occidentalism Symposium

International Occidentalism Symposium

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) took part as an academic partner in the organization of the 2nd International Occidentalism Symposium, hosted by Siirt University, further strengthening scholarly cooperation and international academic ties between the two institutions.

Through the participation of its academic staff, IUS once again demonstrated its commitment to international research collaboration and meaningful academic exchange. Among the IUS representatives was Prof. Dr. Muhidin Mulalić, whose presence contributed to reinforcing the University’s role in important international scholarly initiatives. During the symposium, Prof. Dr. Mulalić held productive meetings with the Rector of Siirt University, Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak, Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Cemalettin Erdemci, and the Chair of the Symposium, Prof. Dr. Fadil Aygan.

The symposium brought together nearly 120 academics and intellectuals from Türkiye, Malaysia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Canada, creating a dynamic international platform for the discussion of the historical and epistemological dimensions of Occidentalism. The event offered participants an opportunity to exchange perspectives, strengthen scholarly dialogue, and contribute to broader academic understanding in this important field.

Among the most prominent participants were Prof. Dr. İhsan Süreyya Sırma, Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak, Prof. Dr. Cemalettin Erdemci, Prof. Dr. Fadil Aygan, Prof. Dr. Muhidin Mulalić, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mumtaz Ali, and Prof. Dr. Yasin Aktay, along with many other distinguished scholars and researchers.

IUS’s involvement in the symposium reflects the University’s continued dedication to international academic engagement, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the development of strong partnerships with respected institutions abroad. Such collaborations play an important role in expanding research horizons, encouraging intellectual exchange, and enhancing the global visibility of the University’s academic community.
