Assistant Professor Dr. Mersiha Jusić from the Psychology (PSY) program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) participated in the mental health symposium “Burnout and Mental Health: From Causes to Consequences”, held on October 9–10, 2025, in Sarajevo.
Dr. Jusić delivered a presentation titled “Burnout Among Parents of Children with Type 1 Diabetes (DM1)”, where she shed light on the emotional and psychological challenges faced by caregivers of chronically ill children.
The symposium was organized by the Menssana Association, in partnership with the Psychiatric Hospital Sarajevo and the Association of Psychologists in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB&H). The two-day event brought together mental health professionals, researchers, and practitioners to discuss the causes, manifestations, and consequences of burnout, as well as strategies for prevention and support.
Dr. Jusić’s contribution underscored the importance of providing psychological and emotional support to families coping with chronic illness and emphasized the essential role of mental health professionals in reducing caregiver stress.
