On Thursday, September 21, 2023, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted His Excellency Dimitrios Papandreou, the Greek Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina. This visit marked a significant step forward in fostering collaboration between Greek institutions and IUS, with a particular focus on cultural and educational exchanges.
Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, IUS Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research and Balkan Studies Center (BSC) Coordinator, Dr. Hamza Preljević warmly welcomed Ambassador Papandreou. Their discussions revolved around strengthening ties between Greece and Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the establishment of the Hellenic Center at IUS as a pivotal initiative.
The Hellenic Center at IUS will provide students and staff the opportunity to immerse themselves in Greek culture and language, enriching their academic and cultural experiences. This center promises to be a hub for cross-cultural understanding, fostering deep connections between the two nations.
Ambassador Papandreou pledged his unwavering support for establishing connections between IUS's Balkans Study Centre and the Balkans Centre in Athens.
