Assistant Professor Dr. Lejla Mustoo Başer, Head of the IUS Student Psychological Counseling Centre (SPCC), participated in the first Expert Meeting of Psychological Counselors in the Academic Community, held in July 2026 at the University of Rijeka, Croatia. During the meeting, she presented the IUS and the IUS Student Psychological Counseling Centre (SPCC).

The expert meeting brought together psychological counselors from higher education institutions to exchange good practices, discuss current challenges in counseling services, explore the status of psychological counselors within the academic community, and share insights into students' perceptions of mental health. Participants also discussed effective approaches to addressing the evolving mental health needs and requests of university students.

Participation in this meeting provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen professional networks, foster international collaboration between higher education institutions, and exchange knowledge with colleagues from the region. Such initiatives contribute to the development of stronger institutional partnerships and the sharing of expertise in supporting student mental health and well-being.

We sincerely thank the University of Rijeka and the team of the Psychological Counseling Center of the University of Rijeka (UNIRI) for their excellent organization, warm hospitality, and the opportunity to participate in such inspiring and meaningful professional discussions.
