As part of the IUS Winter School “Show & Tell,” the Architecture (ARCH) study program welcomed prospective students interested in pursuing architecture, offering them an inspiring introduction to the field and to studying at IUS.
During the session, participants explored the broader value of higher education and the importance of choosing a life path aligned with their interests and talents. Through an engaging presentation, students were introduced to the concept of architecture and the essential role architects play in shaping the built environment - balancing creativity, functionality, sustainability, and responsibility. The session also provided a realistic overview of what it means to study architecture, including the dedication, obligations, and professional ethics that come with the discipline.
A special highlight of the event was hearing directly from ARCH graduates, who shared their personal journeys - speaking openly about the challenges they faced, the skills they developed, and the opportunities that emerged during and after their studies. The ARCH curriculum was presented in detail, drawing strong interest from participants who were eager to learn what they would study and how the program prepares students for real-world practice.
To connect ideas with practice, the session concluded with a short interactive workshop where participants proposed their own solutions to everyday challenges related to space, quality of living, and sustainable construction. At the end of the program, students had the opportunity to view projects and scale models created by current ARCH students, exhibited in the faculty corridors - offering an authentic glimpse into the creativity and hard work that define architecture studies.
The Architecture study program extends its best wishes to all participants as they take their next steps, and looks forward to welcoming many of them soon as part of the ARCH community at IUS.
