First EAQUALS Official Visit to IUS English Language School

First EAQUALS Official Visit to IUS English Language School

The 1st EAQUALS official visit to IUS English Language School taking place as planned on May 18, 2017 was successfully concluded. This was a one-day advisory visit and was realized by the experienced Eaquals Inspector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Galya Mateva. Eaquals stands for Evaluation and Accreditation of Quality Language Services and is registered as a not-for-profit company in England and Wales and as a UK charity. Founded in 1991 as the European Association for Quality Language Services, the Eaquals membership scheme brings together language teaching centers from over 30 countries and leading national and international organizations which actively support language education. They also have specific cooperation agreements with a number of highly-respected international bodies.

Since the vision of the English Language School is to be internationally recognized as a symbol of excellence in language teaching, we believe that Eaquals is the right choice for cooperation in developing strong academic standards in language teaching and learning.

Prof. Mateva is not only an expert in the area of quality language education and language teacher competencies, she has also been a Cambridge CELTA and DELTA tutor and course director since 2002. She is a university lecturer in Sofia Technical University as well as a language center owner. Thus, it might be said that she is uniquely qualified to assess the qualities of a good language school.

During the advisory visit, Prof. Mateva inspected all aspects of our English Language School’s activities with verification of the systems of academic management and quality assurance procedures, on the basis of documentary evidence, by observing classes, inspecting resources and facilities, meeting groups of learners and teachers, and interviewing members of management. Prof. Mateva remarked on the excellence of the ELS team along with our dedication to quality and high standards for both students and teachers. The English Language School is thus ready for the next stage in the international accreditation process.
