On January 7, 2025, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) hosted an enlightening guest lecture for Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE) students, featuring Dr. Jasminka Prguda-Mujić from MEDICOVER Diagnostics Laboratory. An accomplished alumna from the first graduating class of IUS and a PhD holder in Genetics and Bioengineering from the same institution, Dr. Prguda-Mujić shared her expertise on the diagnostics of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
The lecture focused on the mechanisms behind the disease's development, emphasizing the pivotal role of early diagnosis and the management of insulin resistance in mitigating its progression. Dr. Prguda-Mujić highlighted the significance of identifying risk factors early and taking proactive measures to prevent complications.
The session fostered active student engagement, with attendees posing insightful questions and exploring real-world diagnostic techniques. This FENS Talk not only deepened their academic understanding but also showcased the practical applications of their studies in addressing critical health issues.
