The International University of Sarajevo (IUS), through its Faculty of Law, took part in the 10th International Scientific-Practical Conference titled “Inclusive Development of the National Economy: Global Trends, Opportunities for Ukraine and the Role of the Agro-Food Sector, Experience and Cooperation with the EU,” held online on 28–29 April 2026.

The conference was organized by the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine (NULES) and brought together researchers and practitioners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Poland, the United States, India, Australia, the United Kingdom, Azerbaijan, and other countries. The event provided a valuable international platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on inclusive economic development, agro-food security, and the implementation of European Union policies.

Representing IUS, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hana Šarkinović-Köse delivered a plenary keynote titled “EU Integration and Inclusive Development in Montenegro: Assessing Policy Impact.” In her presentation, she shared findings from her ongoing research on the social and economic dimensions of EU accession in the Western Balkans.

Focusing on Montenegro’s fourteen-year EU accession journey, Dr. Šarkinović-Köse examined the gap between formal legal alignment with the acquis communautaire and the lived realities of citizens. Her keynote offered a critical and timely reflection on how EU integration processes affect inclusive development, highlighting both policy progress and the challenges that remain at the societal level.

The participation of IUS in this important international conference reflects the University’s continued commitment to academic research, international cooperation, and meaningful engagement with contemporary legal, economic, and policy issues. It also created an opportunity to strengthen professional dialogue with scholars and institutions working on European integration, sustainable development, and regional cooperation.

The Faculty of Law at the International University of Sarajevo looks forward to further deepening academic partnerships with Ukrainian institutions and to continuing its contribution to international scholarly exchange.
