The 10th European Conference on Social and Behavioral Sciences, held from May 19 to May 22, 2016, was jointly organized by International Association of Social Science Research (IASSR) and International University of Sarajevo (IUS). The conference brought together more than 350 local and international professors, experts and researchers.
The conference was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Arslan, President of International Association of Social Science Research and IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu. IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, addressed the audience at the opening ceremony asserting that: “this event is exceptional for our university since this conference is marking its tenth gathering. This two-digit number is absolutely showing the importance and the impact of this conference for experts, for students and for all those who are interested in scientific fields and topics from Psychology, International Relations and Economics to Geography and Geopolitics.”
Special appreciation goes to keynote speakers at the conference: Prof. Dr. Joseph W. H. Lough (Speech title: Value relevance? Who cares: Max Weber after century), Prof. Dr. Srebren Dizdar (Speech title: A portrait of the Scientist /Academic As You (Might Not) like it) and Prof. Dr. Selahattin Turan (Speech title Youth Leadership in the 21st Century: Challenges, Issues, Expectations).
This conference was successfully organized due to unselfish dedication, work and leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Arslan, President of International Association of Social Science Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhidin Mulalic, Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut, Dean of Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA). On this occasion Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhidin Mulalic, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences stated: “three-day conference is one more testimony that our University has been strongly fostering the research by creating a platform for young and dedicated international and local researchers who are given an opportunity to share their findings, ideas and experiences. Therefore, I strongly believe that strategic orientation of our University towards research, coupled with attempts at obtaining international accreditation besides already obtained B&H accreditation, will differentiate IUS from other local and regional universities in the years to come.”
The conference also included the exhibition at IUS Gallery with the works of the following artists: Ömer Görkem, Ismail YardImcI, Duygu Kahraman, Ezgi Hakan Verdu Martinez, Emel Şölenay, Saime Dönmezer, Gülbin Koçak, I.Vefa Irdelp, Fatma Nur Taylan, Ezgi Gökçe, Can Gökçe, Zafer Günyen and Beril Gökakın.
