Conference titled "Understanding Budget and Fiscal Transparency" was held at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on Thursday, March 26, 2015. Assist. Prof. Edita Đapo, one of the speakers at this Conference gave lecture on "Understanding Budget and Budget Advocacy”, while Assist. Prof. Dr. Matej Živković, Senior Researcher at the Center for Development and Research (CEDAR) gave a lecture with the focus on "Transparency of Fiscal Policy in B&H". The goal of the conference was to explain the content and procedures of adopting the budget, as well as to increase awareness about the importance of public participation in creation of the budget and bringing more understanding of the fiscal policy to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This conference was organized due to the necessity of raising financial literacy of citizens, who need to be involved more in budgeting decision-making processes. Active participation of citizens in economic decision-making, aims to provide more support in the implementation of structural reforms necessary for the prosperity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its citizens, as the main beneficiaries of the budgetary policy. In the previous period, IUS has also organized several interesting lectures whose topics were related to the area of fiscal policy, transparency and the budget, and university will continue to organize this type of lectures in the future.
