On 14th of May, 2015 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Süleyman Doğan, from the department of Social Sciences and Humanities at Yıldız Technical University in Istanbul, gave a lecture at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS). This interesting lecture took place in the main amphitheatre of IUS. The topic was “Mesnevi and Pedagogy”. Prof. Doğan introduced in his speech Mawlana Jalaladdin Rumi (1207-1273), one of the most prominent Muslim mystics as well as his masterpiece Mesnevi. Doğan focused on various points about pedagogy which are derived from this work and also highlighted some possible alternatives to contemporary pedagogy. In his interesting talk, he also pointed out some similar ideas about education in the works of some Western thinkers like Emile, or on Education by Rousseau.
