Performance on the occasion of 20 years after the Srebrenica genocide

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, a performance titled ''Ghost Town 20'' was held in the main hall of the B building of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica. This student project was organized by the Performance Student Club. The program began with the national anthem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which consisted of narration (in Bosnian, English and Turkish), silent acting, ilahijas, violin instrumentals, choir and recitals. Elementary students from Isa-beg Ishaković primary school performed the choir recital. In coordination with the members of the European Muslim Students Association (EMSA), club students wanted to remember the suffering in Srebrenica by giving a performance and emphasize that it is not just enough to remember the genocide only on July 11, but also we should be reminded of it throughout a year by teaching younger generations about the mistakes in our history. ''Through this performance we wanted to show a small part of the suffering and horrors of Srebrenica and emphasize that the '’winners of the war’' are wives and mothers. The weapon of the future is education and Srebrenica should be viewed through the prism of the future and not the past'' - said Mirza Rastoder, author of the concept of performance ''Ghost Town 20''. Mothers of Srebrenica attended this event as honorable invited guests.
