Orientation day for IUS freshmen was held on Monday, October 5th 2009 at 10 o’clock. It was opened with an one-hour introductory lecture held in the IUS Conference hall and hosted a large number of students curious to learn about the rules and procedures of studying at the International University of Sarajevo.
IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. B. Gültekin Çetiner, was the first to speak to students introducing them to IUS vision and mission. “We are a dynamic, fast growing university aiming to become the leading international educational institution in the Balkans” said Prof. Dr. Çetiner.
After Prof. Dr. Çetiner, a presentation of dr. Muhamed Hadžiabdić of the IUS Faculty for Engineering and Natural Sciences followed. The presentation included and explained topics such as elective and compulsory common university courses, course registration procedure, civic engagement projects, freshman student advisers, etc.
“We congratulate you on your choice of university” said Dr. Hadžiabdić adding that “We want you to be known that you are an IUS student after you finish”.
The introductory lecture was completed with the speeches of Prof. Dr. Steven Spielman and prof. dr. Harry Miller. After the end of the lecture, students could procees with the course registration that will last until October 9th. Begining of classes at IUS is on October 12th.
