On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted its much-anticipated 3-Minute Video Competition – Winner Announcement and Networking Day, organized by the IUS Graduate Council.
This unique event aimed to encourage graduate students to creatively showcase their research through compelling short videos. The event began with opening remarks by the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, followed by insights from Associate Professor Dr. Tarik Namas, Vice-Rector for Academic Activities and Students’ Affairs, and Assistant Professor Dr. Emir Hambo, Director of the Graduate Council.
The competition revealed the exceptional storytelling and academic excellence of IUS students across various disciplines. In third place, Ajla Tipura (Genetics and Bioengineering - GBE) impressed the audience with her project “Docking Analysis of Potential Inhibitors for Targets in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.” Second place went to Asmaa Al Bourghli (Genetics and Bioengineering - GBE) for her research titled “Investigating Combinatorial Anticancer Effects of Metformin and Thymoquinone in Lung Cancer.” And the first place winner, Tasneem Tanović from the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) study program, captivated the audience with “Visualizing Identity: Storytelling and Hybrid Narratives of the Bosnian Diaspora in America through Visual Communications.” Each presentation highlighted the incredible potential of academic storytelling and the diverse perspectives within the IUS community.
The event concluded with light refreshments and a vibrant networking session, offering attendees a chance to connect, share ideas, and celebrate academic creativity in a relaxed atmosphere. The IUS Graduate Council emphasized the value of such platforms in transforming students into innovators and thought leaders. As the event came to a close, the message was clear: at IUS, every student is encouraged to not only produce knowledge but to present it with passion and purpose.
