At the International University of Sarajevo, the Ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 14th, 2014. "Lifelong Achievement Award for Dedication to Global Education" was presented to the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali for his great and selfless support that he has provided to development of the University in the past 10 years. The Ceremony was also attended by the General Director of Bosna Bank International (BBI) Mr. Amer Bukvić.
In his addressing, IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu wished a warm welcome to the honorable guest and thanked him for his true friendship that has been lasting for years. Rector Oğurlu stressed out that he is really proud that the University has received such a support and that we have true friends who recognized the potential which leads to improving the quality and better development of education, both in BiH and beyond.
On behalf of the University, the Award (caftan) was given to distinguished guest by the President of the IUS Board of Trustees Prof. Dr. Hasan Zuhuri Sarıkaya, who thanked the esteemed guest and emphasized that respect for diversity, interactive learning and the innovative idea of creating a vision was indeed recognized by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) and its president, Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali.
At the end of the Ceremony, a speech was given by the distinguished guest who said that he is really impressed by the development of the University and spoke of his first visit 10 years ago when this idea was only in its beginning phase. '' I am honored to say that we were able to be a part of the development of the idea of this University. I am proud to see great changes since the last time I visited your University. The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) will always be with you through support and cooperation, because our ultimate goal is to provide support in the development of the Balkan region. I wish you a lot of luck and success in all your work and activities '' said Dr. Ahmad Mohamed Ali. After the official part of the ceremony, a distinguished guest along with his hosts visited the new facilities of the University Campus.
