The International University of Sarajevo (IUS), the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation), and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) have signed a partnership agreement to establish a new T3 Science Center on the IUS campus.
The agreement was signed at the TEKNOFEST venue in Şanlıurfa, Türkiye, marking an important step in expanding opportunities for young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina to engage with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Under the partnership, the new T3 Science Center will offer STEM-focused educational activities, workshops, and project development programs, with a particular focus on high school students. The center is expected to provide young people with early exposure to science and technology while encouraging creativity, practical learning, teamwork, and the development of new ideas.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Sevgi Kurtulmuş, Chairperson of the IUS Board of Trustees; Mr. Abdullah Eren, President of TİKA; and Ms. Elvan Kuzucu Hıdır, Chairperson of the Board of the T3 Foundation.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Kurtulmuş emphasized IUS’s long-standing role in supporting higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and strengthening academic and institutional ties between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Türkiye.
She highlighted the importance of creating opportunities that can help young people develop their talents and remain connected to the region, while also pointing to IUS’s cooperation with leading Turkish universities through double-degree programs.
Prof. Dr. Kurtulmuş also underlined the significance of the new T3 Science Center for the University’s broader efforts in science and technology, noting that IUS students have already demonstrated strong potential through their participation in rocket and technology competitions.
The signing in Şanlıurfa coincided with another important moment for IUS. Members of the IUS TURBOS Rocket Team, who won first place at the TEKNOFEST Rocket Competition in September with “Inat,” Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first university-developed rocket, were also in Şanlıurfa to attend the official awards ceremony.
During their visit, the students met with Prof. Dr. Sevgi Kurtulmuş and Mr. Hasan Topaloğlu, President of the Sarajevo Education Development Foundation (SEDEF), who congratulated them on their outstanding achievement.
The establishment of the T3 Science Center further strengthens IUS’s commitment to creating an environment in which young people can explore science and technology, develop practical skills, and turn ideas into projects.
By bringing together the experience and resources of IUS, the T3 Foundation, and TİKA, the initiative is expected to contribute not only to the University but also to the wider community by supporting a new generation of students interested in STEM, innovation, and technological development.
