The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) recently took part in the second face-to-face (F2F) meeting of the NATURED project partners, held in early June 2025. This important gathering was hosted by the Municipality of Gostivar, a project partner from North Macedonia, and brought together key stakeholders from the region to review progress and align future steps within the project.
The NATURED project is funded under the Interreg VI-B IPA Adriatic-Ionian Programme for the 2021–2027 period. It focuses on enhancing the resilience of cities in the Adriatic-Ionian region to the adverse effects of climate change through collaborative strategies and practical interventions.
Representing IUS at the meeting was Dr. Ismar Alagić, the project coordinator for NATURED at the University. During the sessions, each partner presented the progress of their local project activities, with a special emphasis on the successful organization of local seminars aimed at raising awareness and building capacity in participating communities.
A significant part of the meeting was devoted to a productive discussion on the development of a jointly crafted strategy to increase urban resilience to climate change. Partners also worked on completing sets of vulnerability and hazard matrices tailored to their respective pilot cities. IUS contributed to this process by presenting its findings and results using the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo as its pilot case study.
On June 4, 2025, the NATURED Project Steering Committee also held a meeting as part of the F2F event. The committee reviewed the overall management of the project, reporting procedures, communication strategies, and outlined the roadmap for upcoming activities.
The continued participation of IUS in the NATURED project reflects the University’s commitment to sustainability, regional collaboration, and impactful research that addresses critical environmental challenges.
