IUS IEEE Student Branch Approved by IEEE

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) has officially established an IEEE Student Branch, approved by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) under Region 8 and the Bosnia and Herzegovina Section. IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization, advancing technology for humanity through global standards, research, publications, and by connecting professionals across STEM fields, including electrical and electronics engineering, computer science, biomedical and biological sciences, and aerospace.

The branch was initiated through the efforts of our student Zehra Mercan, from the Double Diploma Bioengineering Program, together with Associate Prof. Dr. Jasmin Šutković. This establishment would not be possible without the full support of IUS FENS faculty members, including Associate Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić Jahjefendić (Branch Counselor) and branch mentors Associate Prof. Dr. Özge Büyükdağlı and Assistant Prof. Dr. Amal Mersni.

With this approval, IUS registered students will gain full access to IEEE’s global network and resources, opening doors to stronger industry connections, technical events and competitions, leadership roles, professional certificates and recognition, and opportunities for funding, awards, and training.

The IEEE Student Branch will also support the university’s visibility and help develop specialized IEEE Society Chapters, while connecting IUS to larger regional and international IEEE student programs and conferences.
