During a two-day, 5th annual pre moot that took place at the Faculty of Law of University in Zenica between February 10-11, 2023, the Vis Moot team of the International University of Sarajevo won second place!
In the highly competitive event, the IUS team was the highest ranked team from Bosnia and Herzegovina, coming in second after the winners from the University of Zagreb.
The IUS Faculty of Law (FLW) was represented by student Lejla Jakupović, and coaches Fahira Brodlija and Dr. Kenad Osmanović. Lejla was ranked among the best individual speakers of the competition.
The competition included teams from Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Zenica, Saarland (Germany), Zagrab (Croatia) and Prishtina (Kosovo), who argued their cases in simulated arbitral proceedings before panels composed of experts, professors and practitioners in international arbitration. The IUS team will travel to Vienna for the final rounds taking place from March 31 to April 6, 2023.
The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot is the biggest international competition for law students, gathering over 380 universities and 2000 students from all over the world. The students compete in two stages: first drafting written memoranda based on a complex hypothetical case in international sales law, and then arguing their case before arbitral tribunals in simulated proceedings. The Vis Moot is recognized as one of the most effective contributors to academic and professional development of law students, and the IUS FLW is participating in the competition for the third time.
Congratulations to the FLW Team on this success! We are proud of you!
