IUS and Turkish Red Crescent to Pursue Cooperation through Volunteerism

A delegation of the Turkish Red Crescent visited the International University of Sarajevo on December 8, 2022. The delegation, which was lead by the Head of the Bursa Branch of the Turkish Red Crescent Prof.Dr.  Murat Tutanç accompanied by the Head of the Turkish Red Crescent Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Suat Sokullu, was welcomed by the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım.

The meeting was focused on the presentation of the activities undertaken by the Turkish Red Crescent, the provision of humanitarian aid to the people in need and their general contribution to the development of social welfare. The discussion then turned towards the importance of voluntary work and the attendees discussed the current volunteering activities and organizations in place both in Turkiye and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was stressed that volunteering through the Red Crescent organizational system among all age groups and genders is important in order to ensure full implementation of voluntary work.

IUS Rector Prof. Yıldırım acknowledged the importance of humanitarian and voluntary work and stressed that IUS fully supports such activism, pointing to the IUS Charity Club that continuously organizes charity drives. The attendees agreed that more joint projects and activities will be conducted in the future and that IUS will offer its volunteers in the upcoming ventures organized by the Turkish Red Crescent.
