Intensified Cooperation and Extension of Agreement between the University of Sarajevo and the International University of Sarajevo Announced

Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Rector of International University of Sarajevo, together with Vice-Rector Dr. Mehmed Ganić and the Secretary General Armin Kerić, visited the University of Sarajevo on December 13, 2018. There they were received by UNSA Rector Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, Vice-Rectors Dr. Dženana Husremović and Prof. Sanja Burić, and International Cooperation Department Head Dr. Jasna Bošnjović.

The meeting was a chance to discuss the extension of the Academic Cooperation Agreement signed in February 2009 for a ten-year period. This Agreement, signed with the aim of promoting academic, educational and cultural cooperation between the two institutions, enabled, among other things, the exchange of teaching staff and students, the implementation of joint study programs, the implementation of joint scientific research programs and projects, and the organization of joint scientific and professional gatherings.

The options to expand current coopreation were considered, especially for joint participation in international projects. One topic on the meeting was also the project of promotion of Sarajevo as regional and European destination of higher education, which would be implemented through joint exibitions of City of Sarajevo and several universities located in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the local and international level in fields of education, schience, culture and arts.

Apart from showing the mutual openness to continue cooperation and extend the present Agreement on Academic Cooperation, at the meeting it was emphasized that remarkable results and great success can be achieved with the joint action of the University of Sarajevo, with its history, continuous action and recognition, and the International University of Sarajevo, which represents the bridge between the Republic of Turkey and BiH.
