On November 27, 2023, the IUS Psychology students and their mentor, Assistant Lejla Mustoo Başer, took an active part in the Festival of Children and Young People „Children and youth are telling you“. The IUS Psychology team delivered a presentation on the topic: „Bullying- a call for help“, and explained significant facets in understanding psychological causes and consequences, as well as preventive measures in bullying occurrences framework. In addition, its impact within the family context and educational institutions, as well as their interrelatedness were also highlighted.
It was an immense pleasure to be part of the encouraging process in which young people had the chance to express their perceptions, expand their knowledge, and engage in proactiveness in mental health promotion, from preventive measures to effective coping. Moreover, IUS team participated in a panel discussion in which the students as representatives of IUS Psychology study program exchanged significant insights with other students, pedagogues, social workers, police officers, and parents. What amplified the significance of this experience was the fact that the Festival's aims supported Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 3, 4, 5, 10, and 16.
We would like to use this opportunity to thank the organizer and expert in practice, Mrs. Nermina Vehabović- Rudež, for inviting IUS Psychology program and moderating the Festival. Also, we would like to thank our presenting team students: Iman Hasanović, Sajra Hodžić, Tara-Michelle Gliha, as well as the panel discussion team: Sumeja Kadribegović, Aldemar Memić, and Sara Humić for tremendous dedication and effort. We are looking forward to new activities on mental health promotion and knowledge exchange.
