GeekFEST2015 completed at IUS

International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized a Summer School of Innovation ''GeekFEST2015'' from 24 to 28 August 2015. Summer school of innovation is held every year at IUS and brings together young people and admirers of advanced technology and computer science who want to follow modern trends and become future IT professionals. High school students from cities across Bosnia, twenty five of them participated in the program and had the opportunity to make the new popular mobile application as well as learn basics of modern software engineering. The classes included lectures and intensive laboratory work and guest lecturers of excellent IT experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Participants also had the opportunity to listen inspirational and sincere life stories of successful engineers in IT companies. 

Besides leading experts from companies such as MISTRAL doo and DPA Systems Ltd. the participants had the opportunity to hear a young employee of the AtlantBH company, Esena Ćorović talking about "How to become a successful engineer." The leader of the project was a prominent expert in the field of modern technology, Assist. Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić-Telalović. Dr. Hasić-Telalović is a lecturer at Computer Science and Engineering program of FENS and head of the Research Unit at the IUS. '' The aim of this project is to teach the young generation about the modern technologies and prepare them to handle advanced IT technologies that are part of the future. Indeed it was a great honor to host these young people and teach them new skills, while learning and socializing '' - said Hasić-Telalović. 

In addition to free education, students had free food and accommodation in student dormitories, at IUS Campus in Ilidža, and interesting extracurricular activities. This project was supported by USAID, AtlantBH, Mistral, InfoStudio and DPA Systems. The first place for the project entitled ''Schedule'' won Alem Tatarović, Arnela Hadžić, Faruk Čidić, Sanel Safić and Nijaz Čehaja. We wish the winners best of luck and success in continuation of their work and studies.
