Former President of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkiye, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez accompanied by the Mufti of Goražde, Remzija ef. Pitić, paid a visit to the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. They were welcomed by the Dean of Faculty of Business and Administration, Prof. Dr. Emel Topcu, Dean of Faculty of Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Yaman and Senior Assistant Mrs. Serap Fišo.
The topics of discussion were Turkish-Bosnian relations in the context of religious affairs. Prof. Görmez underlined that during his presidency, the relations with BiH were at their peak pointing to a large number of Bosnian students who had had the opportunity to study across Turkiye at various faculties of theology. Moreover, he also emphasised that through the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkiye, he had pioneered the renovation of numerous mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Gorazde Mufti Pitić acknowledged all the efforts and activities that the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkiye had done for BiH and stressed that it is important to foster this assistance in the future especially for the sake of the Bosnian youth.
The attendees concluded that more intensified relations between Bosnia and Turkey in all spheres is a positive development for both countries and these relations are important steps that will serve the peace in the region.
