The JU High School of Business, Commerce, and Trade in Sarajevo recently conducted a series of engaging and impactful activities as part of the WP3 Fostering Social Inclusion package of the DC-VET WB Project. These activities brought together students from the Individualized Support Plan (IPP) program and their peers to promote practical skills, teamwork, and community engagement.
The first activity was an educational visit to the local post office, offering more than just an introduction to postal services. Students explored themes of community and responsibility while writing and mailing postcards to friends and family. This hands-on experience not only honed their writing and addressing skills but also fostered a sense of connection and accomplishment.
The second activity, titled Shopping for Ingredients and Supplies, took students to local shops to purchase essential items for an upcoming cooking session. This real-world exercise allowed them to practice budgeting, decision-making, and planning. By preparing for the cooking activity, students gained valuable lessons in independence, responsibility, and practical life skills.
The final activity was a dynamic cooking session, where students applied the ingredients they had selected to prepare and bake their chosen recipes. This hands-on experience emphasized teamwork, time management, and creativity while enhancing their culinary abilities. Working collaboratively, students followed instructions, shared tasks, and gained confidence in meal preparation.
These activities not only strengthened the students’ practical skills but also fostered inclusion, independence, and meaningful peer-to-peer interactions, making them a memorable and valuable part of their learning journey.
