The 6th International Social Sciences Congress began on October 24, 2024, at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), marking the start of a two-day event aimed at fostering dialogue and idea exchange among scientists and researchers in the field of social sciences. This congress is hosted by IUS in collaboration with Gümüşhane University, Kilis 7 Aralık University, Bayburt University, and Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, and is being held in a hybrid format, with both in-person and online sessions.
The opening session featured a welcome speech by IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, who expressed his gratitude to the organizers for selecting IUS as the venue for this significant event. He highlighted the achievements of IUS over the past two decades and emphasized the university's strong global partnerships, particularly its double diploma programs with four universities from Istanbul. Rector Yıldırım also wished the participants a successful congress, stressing the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in the advancement of social sciences.
Following his address, Gümüşhane University Rector, Prof. Dr. Halil Ibrahim Zeybek, greeted the attendees and shared his hope that the congress would inspire impactful research and contribute to societal advancement. He noted the crucial role of social sciences in shaping society and highlighted the interconnected nature of all scientific fields.
Rector of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Prof. Dr. Muhittin Demiray, commended the long-standing success of the International Social Sciences Congress, now in its sixth year, and expressed confidence in its continued growth and influence in the academic community.
In addition to the academic discussions, the event served as a platform for furthering institutional partnerships. IUS and Gümüşhane University signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, which paves the way for collaboration in areas such as research, student and faculty exchange, joint projects, and event organization.
Over the course of the two-day congress, more than 50 academicians will participate in numerous sessions, presenting their research and exchanging ideas that will contribute to the development of social sciences and their role in addressing global challenges.
