The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the pleasure of welcoming H.E. Jana K. Lolić Šindelková, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bosnia and Herzegovina, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, for a lecture delivered as part of the Shuttle Diplomacy Talks series. The event was organized through the collaboration of the Balkan Studies Center (BSC) and the Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) study program. Prior to the lecture, Ambassador Šindelková was warmly received by the Rector of IUS, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı.
The lecture, titled “The Czech Republic and the Western Balkans: Supporting Stability and European Integration,” offered participants valuable insight into the Czech Republic’s foreign policy approach toward the region and its continued support for the European perspective of the Western Balkans.
During her presentation, Ambassador Šindelková spoke about the Czech Republic’s post-communist transformation, highlighting the major political and economic developments that shaped its path toward European integration and its current position within Europe. She emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains an important partner and underlined that the channels of cooperation and support between the two countries remain open and active.
The session was marked by a high level of interest and interaction. Following the lecture, participants took part in a dynamic question-and-answer session, which provided an excellent opportunity for direct exchange with the Ambassador. This discussion enabled attendees to gain first-hand insight into current European Union policies, regional stability, and the future prospects of the Western Balkans.
