Rector's Interview for Ekotürk TV

The Rector of the International University of Sarajevo Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırim, gave a live online interview for the Turkish TV station Ekotürk on Thursday, January 27, 2022. The guest appearance was part of the TV show focusing on academia and academic issues hosted by Dr. Canan Tercan.

The Rector introduced the University's vision and mission noting that it is a Foundation University focused on providing quality education to its students. IUS student profile is diverse and the mission of the institution is to nurture the international environment with students coming from 45 different countries although a large majority comes from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.

Answering to the host’s inquiry on the educational system in Bosnia and Herzegovina and IUS, Rector Yıldırim explained the educational model implemented at the International University of Sarajevo emphasising the fact that a number of IUS study programs are listed in the Turkish OSM catalogue. He also stressed the fact that IUS Law Faculty graduates will have their diploma equivalency requests approved as of this year by the Council of Higher Education of Turkiye (YÖK) within the framework of the provisions of the Regulation on Recognition and Equivalence of Foreign Higher Education Diplomas. Speaking about the teaching methods during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Rector noted that IUS very quickly and successfully transferred all its education online and managed to complete three semesters with excellent results adding that the majority of the classes in the fall semester of the current year were conducted in a face-to-face manner on campus.

Finally, the interview gave significant focus on IUS extracurricular activities and the Rector noted that IUS is very proud of its student clubs which are numerous and varied again following the lack of activity during the pandemic peaks. Although there is no IUS football club at the moment, the University has recently established a basketball club - IUS Wolves - who have started playing in the local basketball league.
