International Summer School '15 started at IUS

Opening ceremony to mark the beginning of the second International Summer School at IUS with a title “Learning from the past-20 years after the Bosnian war: Education for Reconciliation and Lasting Peace in Post-conflict Societies” was held in the Bosniak Institute in Sarajevo, on Saturday, June 27, 2015. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the International University of Sarajevo, Vice-Rector Assist. Prof Dr. Muhamed Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut, co-organizer and professor at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia, Prof. Dr. Hariz Halilović, and main coordinator of the project, Senior Assistant, Nerkez Opačin. Among distinguished were also the members of the diplomatic corps in BiH, representatives of international organizations and other guests who supported this important project of International University of Sarajevo (IUS). 

International Summer School’15 aims to make a contribution to the process of dealing with the past, reconciliation and transitional justice approaches in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. By examining the ways how and what we can learn from the past in order to confront the challenges in the present, the International Relations department (IR) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) promotes the idea of education as an essential tool for reconciliation and an agent of positive societal change in post-conflict countries like Bosnia and Herzegovina.– said during his speech, main coordinator of the project and Senior Assistant at the International and Public Relations Program, Nerkez Opačin from the Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA). 

International Summer School started on Saturday and will last a total of 12 days (27.06. - 07.08.2015.). Participants will have the opportunity to get knowledge on all aspects relating to peace, reconciliation, transitional justice, and adopt new knowledge and practical tools in the field of social change in post-conflict countries such as the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, it is important to mention that participants in school come from different countries of Europe and the world (15), from countries such as the Scandinavian countries, the United States of America (USA), Germany, Greece, Spain, Belgium and Pakistan.
