Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski Takes Part in a Conference at Birkbeck, University of London

Associate Professor Dr. Joseph J. Kaminski (PSIR/FBA) was invited to Birkbeck, University of London on June 29th to participate in a conference titled “Rethinking Muslim International Relations in an Emerging Multipolar World.”

While at this international conference, Dr Kaminski participated in 3 different live-streamed forums. His main presentation was a full-length lecture titled, “Postmodernism and the Westphalian system’s impact on the Muslim world: A closer look at the crisis of the current world system.” Other participants at this workshop included Ayşe Zarakol (Cambridge University), Raihan Ismail (Oxford University), Jasmin Gani (St. Andrews University), and Yakoob Ahmed (Istanbul University). Following the workshop, Dr. Kaminski was invited for a half hour, exclusive one-on-one interview regarding his experiences with Islam and academia on the Islam Channel, the UK’s largest exclusively Islamic television station that broadcasts live and on the internet across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Following his interview, he met with his managing editor at Oneworld Publications, Ms. Rida Vaquas in Central London where they discussed his manuscript project as well as the possibility of her visiting IUS in the Fall to co-host a workshop with Dr. Kaminski about how to get works of both literary fiction and academic non-fiction published by a major global publishing house. This workshop would be aimed at IUS faculty and students alike.
