Minister of Industry and Commerce of the Republic of Turkey Mr Nihat Ergün and the President of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Mr Murat Yalçintaş visited on 3rd November 2009th International University of Sarajevo (IUS). At the IUS Rectorate, minister Ergün and Mr. Yalçintaş were greeted by the President of the Foundation for the Education Development Sarajevo Mr. Hasan Topaloğlu, and the Rector Prof. Dr. B. Gultekin Çetiner.
During this reception Mr. Topaloğlu introduced Minister Ergün with the plans for the future development of the International University of Sarajevo, as well as presented detailed progress made on the construction of the new IUS's campus in Ilidža. Size of the campus is 72,000 square meters, and the completion of its first phase construction is expected in 2010.
After the reception at the Rectorate, distinguished guests from Turkey met with Bosnian businessmen, University representatives and students at the IUS Conference Hall. There, people present were addressed by the Minister Ergün and Rector Çetiner.
“I wish there was a university like this when I was younger” said Minister Ergün adding that he sees very good future for IUS.
On behalf of the International University of Sarajevo and the Foundation for the Development of Education Minister Ergün was presented a token of honor by Prof. Çetiner and Mr. Topaloğlu. The event was followed by a number of media representatives from both Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey.
