A seminar entitled "Inter-religious Council of B&H: Past, Present, and Future" held at IUS

Members of the Secretariat of the Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, held a seminar at the International University of Sarajevo on May 23rd, 2013, entitled "Inter-religious Council of B&H: Past, Present, and Future."

The Members of the Secretariat of the Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the work of the Council to IUS students. The students were introduced with the basic principles of the Council, the structure of the Council, its working groups, as well as numerous projects and programs through which the Council is developing inter-religious dialogue and contributes to the process of reconciliation.

In his opening address IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Özer Çınar stressed that the Inter-Religious Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the seminar have a significant role, as a true dialogue requires a sincere commitment. Rector Çınar said that the dialogue is one of the most effective means in the fight against the ignorance, prejudice, intolerance and fanaticism.

After a one-hour presentation of the Council, discussions with approximately one hundred students that were present were opened, and they had the opportunity to ask questions related to the work of the Council, its goals and plans for the future. Students have shown great interest in this subject and recognized the importance of interreligious dialogue to improve relations both among churches and religious communities and among believers and other citizens.
