Advisor to Turkish Prime Minister Mustafa Şen Lectured at IUS

Mustafa Şen, Chief Advisor to Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, along with H.E. Haldun Koç, Ambassador of Turkey to BiH, and President of the Union of European Turkish Democrats (UETD) Zafer Sirakaya visited International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. During his visit, Advisor to Prime Minister met the University management as well as students.

The distinguished guests were welcomed by the delegation of IUS headed by Rector Dr T. Erkan Türe. After the meeting with the University representatives, the lecture was organized for IUS students where Mr Şen talked about the identity and multiculturalism. His lecture was with the special focus on Bosnian context and students from Turkey studying in BiH.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey are sister countries, whose peoples are distinguished by special identities, but connected by religion,” he said.

In his message to students from Turkey, Mr Şen said that one of their most important tasks while studying in Bosnia and Herzegovina should be to learn the Bosnian language, and along with that Serbian and Croatian.

“If you spend five years in a country, you should not be leaving without having learned its language,” he said.”Without language, we cannot make the connection between the cultures and identities.”
