Exploring the Future of Finance at IUS

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, the IUS Faculty of Business and Administration (FBA) hosted a lecture titled “DeFi and the Future of Finance: Blockchain Foundations and Economic Concepts.” The guest lecturer, Mr. Ajdin Kahrović, Engineering Manager at the DeFi app, delivered an insightful session exploring the rapid evolution of decentralized finance (DeFi) and its impact on global financial systems.

The lecture offered a well-structured overview of DeFi, beginning with the technological fundamentals of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts. Mr. Kahrović then delved into the distinctions between centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized models, highlighting key DeFi mechanisms such as lending protocols, decentralized exchanges (DEXs), derivatives, and the tokenization of real-world assets.

In addition to outlining opportunities, the session addressed core challenges in the DeFi space, including scalability, security, and regulatory frameworks. The lecture concluded with a thought-provoking discussion on the future trajectory of decentralized finance and its potential to reshape traditional financial services.
