On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, International University of Sarajevo hosted prospective students who scored the highest results at the first 2023 Scholarship Testing held on March 18 and won 100% scholarships for their future study at IUS. The students, accompanied by their parents, attended the Scholarship Certificate Awards Ceremony that was organized with the aim to bring together and promote the top-ranked high-school students from BiH and the region, who have decided to continue their higher education at IUS.
IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım welcomed the students and their families and congratulated them on their success. He underlined that they have made the right choice by choosing to study at IUS – a University which will offer them quality education in an international environment and will open the door for further education at renowned universities or global enterprises. However, Rector Yıldırım emphasized that their end goal should be to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina and serve their country with the knowledge and skills that they acquired. He also thanked the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF) who has continuously, for the past 19 years, been awarding generous scholarships to the youth of BiH and the region thus supporting their goals and talents and creating a window of opportunity for the future of their choice.
The students did not hide their enthusiasm and excitement for starting a new chapter in their education. Hamza Čustović from Prva Bošnjačka gimnazija (First Bosniak Gymnasium) noted: “I am about to study psychology and I am very happy to be here today. This is a very serious institution and I expect to receive a high-level of academic quality and professionalism.” Fatima Hadžić from Gazi Husrev-Bey’s Madresa in Sarajevo also laid down her expectations and said “I hope and I believe that here at IUS I will have the opportunity to widen my horizons and achieve my goals.” Adisa Poško, from Bihać was also enthusiastic to embark on a new journey and added: “I was optimistic during the Scholarship Exam, but still there was some doubt on how I would do the test and what would be the final result. Thank God, it all turned for the best and today I am here to celebrate the 100% scholarship that I received.”
IUS congratulates the brilliant students and their parents on their success and looks forward to having them on board as part of the IUS family.
